Swim Week Brings in Free Lessons

The week marks national Learn to Swim Week and the Great Lakes Aquatic and Leisure Centre is urging parents to sign up their child under five so they can learn vital water safety skills, for free. “Drowning is still the leading cause of preventable deaths in children under five in Australia,” Poolwerx’ David Nelmes, founder of the week, said.  With parents reportedly quoting one of the biggest obstacles to regular swimming lessons is the perceived expense, hundreds of swim schools around the country are offering free lessons for the week. The aim is to get kids into the pool safely.
